Settings

You can configure the Output folder ID, Default Merged File Name, Gemini API Key and default configuration for the Merge process using the Settings window.

To launch the settings window, click on the Settings option from the top right of the Merge Docs extension sidebar.

Export Settings and Gemini API Key

  • Google Drive export folder ID - Enter the Drive folder ID where you want to export the Merged Document, PDF files and the EPub files. To place the output in the root folder of your Google Drive, leave this value as empty.
  • Default Merged File Name - Enter the default name you would like to use for the merged output file
  • Gemini API Key - Enter Gemini API key to create content with Gemini, such as Chapter Summary creation, New Chapter creation using Prompt and Glossary creation. You can create a free Gemini API key from the Google AI Studio (opens in a new tab).

Default Merge Destination

The default Merge Destination allows you to configure the default merge destination. You can change this in the Merge Window sidebar during each merge.

  • Create a new Google Doc - Creates a new Google Document and merge the docs into this document
  • Use an existing Doc as template - Creates a new Google Docs from a template, copies over the headers, footers, document access settings and merge the document contents into the new document
  • Merge into an existing Doc - Merges the content into a selected document

Default Merge Options

The merge options settings allows you to configure the default file output and the export settings. These settings are also customizable in the Merge sidebar and you can change it for each merge in the Merge sidebar.

  • Use large file mode - To Use the large file mode by default and allow upto a maximum of a 6 minutes to merge each file
  • Add page brk before each merge - To add a page break before merging each document.
  • Save merged Docs as Word To automatically export the merged doc as a Word
  • Save merged Docs as PDF - To automatically export the merged doc as a PDF
  • Save merged Docs as ePUB - To automatically export the merged doc as a ePub
  • Auto download output files - To automatically download the PDF and the ePub files without explicitly clicking the download button
  • Open output Merged Docs in a new tab - To open the merged Google Docs in a new tab automatically
